Share and Shorten the URL with Yoono
Recently, I’ve been testing out Yoono, due to the encouragement of Terry. I was watching a video by Robert Kiyosaki and team about education and the lack of financial education in schools. I’m a big fan of Kiyosaki and love most of the material they put out. So I decided to share this content. I was about to open Tweet Deck, my usual Social Media tool of choice, when I realized it would be simpler to do in Yoono, so I copied the link into the share box of Yoono, but then I wanted to shorten it, and… how do you shorten it? It didn’t happen automatically, and I couldn’t figure out how to do it. So how do you shorten it?
Well, while there is no button to click to shorten a URL within Yoono, it was actually unnecessary. Instead of copying and pasting into Yoono, the right way to share a page is like this:
-
Click on the green “share” button

-
Click “share this page” in the Yoono box that appears above the web page

It will automatically shorten the URL for you
- Enter any other text you want, choose which social media platforms to share via, and click “share” or “Update”
You’re done, with the URL shortened for Twitter, but left complete for Facebook or other social platforms that don’t have a small character limit.
Problem mostly solved! I would still like it if Yoono provided a URL shortening method for whenever I might prefer to copy and paste a link into the update box, but this method works just fine, and perhaps I’ll grow to like this process better.
